Parafencing Summer Camp
July 28 - August 1
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Lunging into LA28!
As Team USA begins to prepare for the LA 2028 Grames, Denver Fencing Foundation is excited to share the joy of parafencing with our free all-ages, all-abilities Summer Parafencing Camp. Join us for an exciting, inclusive week of adaptive fencing! Open to beginners and experienced fencers alike, this camp provides expert coaching and a supportive environment for athletes with disabilities to build skills, confidence, and community. Whether you’re looking to try fencing for the first time or refine your technique, our camp welcomes you to experience the thrill of competition and the camaraderie of parafencing. Come learn, grow, and fence with us this summer!
What you will need to bring
Water Bottle: We have a bottle refill station
Pants: All fencers must wear either knickers or pants to protect the legs
Lunch and Snacks: It is a long day, so bring plenty of treats to keep yourself fueled; we do have a kettle and microwave if needed.
Fencing Gear: If you have your own fencing gear, bring it in.
Change of Clothes
It can get hot and sweaty fencing. We have an accessible changing room for those who wish to change. We also have a large ADA bathroom with a shower and shower bench if needed.
Medications:
Inhaler, EPI pen, or any other medications you may need to take during the time you will be at camp. We do have a refrigerator for any medications that may need to be refrigerated.
Can’t Make all the days or the entire time?
We understand that summer is a busy time, so we welcome participants to attend when available. Whether you come for the entire day or just some days for only a certain amount of time, we are flexible.
We will provide
Fencing gear for those who do not have any
Fencing Chair: Foundation chairs will be available for anyone who does not have their own chair
If you wish to stay in a personal chair, the chair can be safely strapped into the fencing platforms to prevent the need for transferring.
If you require an adaptation to use our equipment, we will do our best to meet your needs, even if it involves sewing or creating something from scratch.
If you are interested in participating and believe you may need modifications, whether it is strapping to keep you in the chair or assistance with gripping the grab bar or sword, please reach out for further information.
