Denver Fencing Foundation Board of Directors:

Board Chair: Nathan Anderson

Nathan Anderson is the founder of the Denver Fencing Center, one of the biggest USA Fencing clubs.  Nathan has trained fencers who have won over 300+ National medals, multiple National Champions and Pan-American Champions and a World Champion.  He has served on USA Fencing Board of Directors.  He is still a highly competitive fencer who has recently won two National Championships and made the 2023 World Team in his age group.   Nathan is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.  

Treasurer: Yan Deng

As the Chief Financial Officer of Allosource (leading Colorado non-profit), Yan brings a wealth of experience in non-profit strategic planning and growth planning.  In her day job, she oversees all activities related to Finance, Accounting , and Information Technology in conjunction with the AlloSource Board of Directors, as well as the Audit and Finance/Operations Committee.  Yan holds a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license in Colorado and earned her MBA from Colorado State University.

Secretary: Sachin Mehta

Sachin Mehta started fencing at a young age. Coming from a family of immigrants from a country not know for fencing, Sachin fell in love with fencing and trained extremely hard to become one of the nation’s best fencers. He won his first major medal taking a Silver Medal at the 2015 Pan-American Youth Championships and competed at the international cadet level for Team USA in Germany and Austria. He was recruited by Johns Hopkins and soon became their top fencer. In his junior year, he finished 21st at the NCAA Championships, a record not matched since 1980. He graduated with a BS in Neuroscience and BA in Cognitive Sciences, with a minor in mathematics. He is currently a medical student at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Margaret Hansen

Maggie Hansen currently works in the FEMA Region VIII Office of Environmental and Historic Preservation. She holds a Bachelor’s in Architecture from the University of Notre Dame, with an emphasis in classical architecture and a minor in Historic Preservation. Maggie's previous experience also includes work for several local nonprofit agencies. Maggie spent several years working with DFF's partner gym, Denver Fencing Center, where she laid the foundations for DFF's afterschool and Parafencing programs. Maggie has an extensive background in competitive fencing and professional coaching, including certifications from USA Fencing Coaches’ College and the US Fencing Coaches Association.

In her spare time, Maggie likes to spend as much time as possible outside, running with her dog, rock climbing with her husband, or getting her hands dirty in the garden.

John Clayman

John Clayman started fencing at 10 years old.  Taking time off from the sport, and returning to competition in college, John serves as Denver Fencing Center Gym Manager. John has extensive experience in fencing management and coaching. John holds ratings in all three fencing weapons with a B in foil, and C rating in epee. He is also a national silver medalist.  John is also a National Level referee, holding referee certifications in all 3 weapons.  John is constantly volunteering on behalf of the foundation and bring on the ground experiences to the Board.

Patrick Li

Special Project Manager/Youth Advisor to the Board of Directors

Patrick Li, a student at Cherry Creek High School, is an avid fencer who is also dedicated to bettering his community. Patrick has medaled at multiple regional tournaments along with earning national points, and currently holds an A rating in epee. However, Patrick's involvement in fencing goes beyond personal achievement; he actively engages with the Denver Fencing Foundation to promote the sport within our community.

As the Special Project Manager, he has organized several events: Colorado Wheelchair Sports Camp and Fencing Across America. Along with project manager, Patrick is also the Youth Advisor to the Board of Directors where he provides his input on the numerous enrichment programs and camps that are all throughout the year. Through his collaborative efforts, Patrick works to make fencing accessible to all, believing in its capacity to foster camaraderie and personal growth. On or off strip, Patrick always tries to leave a lasting impact on those around him.   

Our Founders:

Edwin Bodoni
Co-Founder

Edwin Bodoni was one of the co-founders of this organization. An exceptionally caring young man, Edwin strongly believes that his efforts should include others and that he should strive to make a difference in someone else’s life. While in high school, he was one of the lead volunteers for the Colorado Wheelchair Fencing Foundation from 2015 to 2019. He began studying at the Wharton School of Business (University of Pennsylvania) after graduation.

Evelyn Bodoni
Co-Founder

Evelyn Bodoni, a Cherry Creek High School graduate, is the other co-founder of this organization and has been a competitive fencer for several years. She is also an accomplished ballroom dancer, a published researcher, and an excellent debater and public speaker. She is deeply caring about her community and is delighted to share her expertise and contribute to this program’s success. She will graduate from Wharton School of Business (University of Pennsylvania) in May 2024.
